Each year The Federation of Indian Associations in the US puts up a grand India Day Parade, usually on the Sunday after Independence Day in New York City. I have been trying to make it to this parade for the past 8 years but haven’t been able to. It always draws huge crowds and several major streets of NYC shut down for India! Not to mention all the stars that show up to this event. I have paroled down the streets of NYC so many times but never gotten to see any stars. Once, I even missed the Kal Ho Na Ho shooting by like 20 minutes! Someday.

Meanwhile on August 15th, Deepika Padukone’s second movie Bachna Ae Haseeno released in India. She was there for the premiere but made it to US just two days later on August 17th to be the Grand Marshal at India Day Parade. Vijay Mallya was the chief guest at the event. Needless to say, Deepika Padukone looked flawless in a very traditional red outfit. Her smile and her waves wooed the crowd. I couldn’t make it but here are some pictures of the Grand Marshal Deepika Padukone!

With just two releases, Deepika Padukone has become a celebrity pretty quickly! Hope she lasts!
